The delightful and whimsical hats that come from the talented hands of my blog friend Frollein von Sofa - a cirkus sea lion !
Flowers for the one you love.
Two sweet birds nesting.
A ladybug on a ladybug hat.
A surfer - - only you Frollein! :)
But she also makes delicate and elegant work like this hummingbird hovering a giant flower.
Or this little chic number which I think I might simply have to get!
And also, this makes me happy! This is the goal - to be able to swing like this ! This is Jean Veloz at The Herräng Dance Camp 2012, a lady who is ... 88 (!!) years young.
And here she is in here heyday in the film - Swing Fever! Don´t forget to stop the vintage music ipod before pressing play :)
June started of with a trip to London with members of TRYCK (Push, an organisation for black cultural workers)
We had a great time and learned so much. We saw a number of plays performed by black actors and met with several of our English colleague sto share experiences, challenges and hopes for the future. I must say the trip was a success !
Of course, I managed to squeeze in a visit at V&A and have a look at their gorgeous costume department ;)
New look - what a buzz it created!
There were those who loved it after the austerity of the war years. And those who were upset by amount of fabric used in just one dress when most of Europe were still living on ration coupons. Most upset were the American women who simply refused to cover up their legs with skirts that, according to Monsieur Dior, were supposed to go way below the knee...
I also came home with a hairpiece for fun new hairstyles!
Not long after London I was off to Paris! To visit...
... my beloved auntie Ingvor!
She is, after over 40 years in France, a true Parisian. Elegant style, great cooking skills and a home that is both comfortable and exquisitely beautiful at the same time!
My aunt at the time she arrived to Paris. Isn't she just adorably cute!
And I got to meet my mother who flew in from LA. We only get to see one another IRL once a year and fill up the rest of the time with video chats - Thank God for Skype ! :)
The sisters! There are five siblings ( four of them girls !) And oh, my how they can laugh!
Much of the time spent in Paris was at... a dinner table. Which is only the civilised thing to do when in France as there is soo much good food ! :)
It was so lovely to revisit the French side of the family. Sitting next to Ingvor is my super talented cousin Julia who designs jewellery.
Look what she gave me - these beautiful little roses she made ! Please be sure to pay a visit to Julias blog Snow in April and her Etsy shop for more of her superb work!
Back in Sweden it was time for one of our biggest holidays - Midsummer.
As tradition have it this is a time when you eat and eat (and eat) a lot of great food in order to celebrate Midsummer Eve and Midsummers Day.
Which is not a problem for me or for my vintage pal Madelin.
Can you blame us - this was the dessert table ( after loads of delicious salads and barbeque goodies)!
Madelin and I, two very satisfied women :)
June was a fun month!
I went up to the Herräng Swing Dance Camp ( the largest in the world) to visit friends and had the time of my life! Next year I'm coming here to take classes !
Here my vintage pal Madelin by her tent. She and Josefin are preparing the evenings barbecue.
It rained. A lot... And the mosquitoes could share a thing or two with the inhabitants of "True Bloods"... But it was still great!
While I was there there was two swell parties going on. The first one; A night at the Savoy was arranged by Åsa (in her beautiful 1940s lace dress!) and Miriam, Who wore a beautiful floor length red evening dress ( how could I forget to snap her!)
People came from all over the world. Anya was from Russia and was wearing... my old hat that she had bought in Stockholm at a vintage boutique- small world! I never looked this good in it!
Anna and Ian from the UK dancing Balboa.
What a load of fun this Londoner babe was!
The ever delightful Miss Madelin!
Josefin, Anna, Madelin and friends.
It was such beautiful evening and the at the height of it the curtains opened and Hornsgatan Ramblers appeared on stage with "Handsome Freddy" centre in a white tux! Swoon!
But there was more... Another great party was the Pirates & Parrots themed night!
There was a captive princesses of the Caribbean.
Loads of crazy pirates (like me & Amanda)
Cool pirates and their colourful parrots ( aka Mårten and Anna )
Anna had made her costume herself
Even baby pirates came ! :)
And then there were Pirate kings dressed as knights ( f-u-n-n-y Rachel from Albuquerque)
Angry pirates and their Flamingo (!) ladies
Even a some what tired contemplative little circus dog... :) I had a grand time!
